Estée Lauder Christmas Gift Sets 2017 Review

The most joyous time of the year has arrived! As you indulge in the festive cheer, have you given some thought to your Christmas shopping? I am sure you did, since it is just 15 days away!

Apologies I have been busy and couldn't do up a more comprehensive gift guide featuring all my favourite beauty brands on a single blog post. Follow me on Instagram and Facebook, and you will see an assortment of different beauty gift ideas on my feed, all through November & December!

Since I only have time for ONE blog post for this Christmas season, I'd like to dedicate it to one of my top five most favourite luxury brands since the day I discovered my passion for makeup & beauty, and this is none other than Estée Lauder! (I can still vividly remember my first EL face wash I invested when I was 15, and how the ANR gift sets lured me to throw in my first full-time salary when I was 20!)

Palladio Pop Shine Brilliant Lip Balm - reviews, swatches and FREE giveaway!

Sponsored

Palladio Pop Shine Brilliant Lip Balm review Singapore

By now you'd have heard of this drugstore brand that just landed Singapore shores some months back. They are known for their amazing quality at unbelievably affordable prices.

You can read more of my reviews of Palladio Pop Shine Lip Balm and other products here.

I won't be posting repetitive ramblings on how awesome I think this product is - I believe the product speaks for itself (You only NEED to try it!). What I will do here is to share the available shades and swatches you might want to view before heading down to Guardian Singapore to get yours.

Six available shades:

Socialite - a bright peach with pink undertones
Outrageous - a bright red with orange tones
Psyched - a bright red with pink undertones. Slightly cooler than Outrageous.
Get Real - mauve nude with cool undertones. Recommended for fair skin tones.
Flirtatious - sexy purple. Olive skin tones please avoid.
Scandalous - deep berry. One layer will reflect as red; Two layers as wine red, more layers = vampy dark red.

Texture:
Creamy and applies like a lip balm. However, because of its pigments, it is less moisturising than the usual lip balm. Dries to a slick muted sheen on lips.

Lasting Power:
It's a balm, not exactly a lipstick (although the pigmentation totally looks like one) so please don't expect much lasting power. For me, all gone after a salad meal.

In my opinion, I think swatches and lip swatches are not visual enough/holistic. So I included my unabashed selfies/MOTD with each shade. #sorrynotsorry

Confessions of a Blogger (1): Bitchiest, Funniest, Jaw-dropping Remarks Overheard at Media Events

Hi lovelies!

Thanks to my insomnia (again), I finished re-reading all of my previous blog posts and realised that I have been too focused on beauty product reviews recently and kinda lost some personal touch on this blog?

As you probably already knew, I started this blog due to passion in all things beautiful. And it will pain me (not to mention, cause me further insomnia) should I one day lose my initial fervour. Keeping things real yet diplomatic (and sometimes entertaining. Haha.) will be my lifelong pursuit…both in life and on this blog. Heh.

#I_Sompa #ISwearOnMyTOMFORDLipstick

However, today I want to write about something more light-hearted (and slightly juicy). Having been in the bloggersphere/social media industry for slightly less than two years, I am very thankful to be blessed with many socialising opportunities at media events such as new product launches, blogger parties, fashion shows, makeup/makeover events, etc. Rubbing shoulders with celebrities, popular media & online personalities, CEOs/founders of huge beauty companies – all of this wasn’t part of the reason why I started the blog, but I guessed I lucked out to be regularly experiencing these via blogging. (In my past work industries, the professional profiles I met are mostly academics, politicians, lawyers, aviators and business owners. Well, let’s save those old-school stories for another time.)

Being part of the social media scene has definitely opened my eyes wider. There are just so many interesting sights & sounds to share with you guys…which I did of course - on Snapchat and Instagram Stories. BUT…what you haven’t heard are some of the most hilarious jokes, rudest remarks, super entertaining banter overheard at events. Many of those were generously targeted at me during conversations. Some were unfortunately thrown at other people.

I hope they didn’t take it too hard, like how I did...NOT.
(LOL. Actually I just didn’t know how to feel and what to make of it. *shrugs)

Review of Orbis Skincare Singapore
Review of Orbis Skincare Singapore

If you have been following my Instagram page, you'd have been informed of the opening specials of Orbis at their newest boutique, located at Takashimaya Shopping Centre.

For those who are new to Orbis, this is a Japanese beauty brand that is eco-friendly, simple, effective and advocates a holistic approach to beauty & wellness. It is also the first to create 100% oil-free skincare products, based on their fundamental belief that by cutting out oil, skin can release its vital power. Sounds like god-send to oily/combination skin? I would think so.

I was at the opening of the new store at Takashimaya last month, and was so happy to bag home some skincare and makeup loots.

Korea Label ver. Chongsungah 22 Brand Launch and 1st Impressions!

Sponsored

Korea's popular makeup label, ver. Chosungah 22 recently held their brand launch in Artisteaq Mandarin Gallery, Singapore. Thanks to Sasa Singapore, beauty lovers can finally access this vibrant & wacky brand without paying hefty shipping fees.

For those who haven't heard of ver. Chosungah 22 yet, this brand was founded by a very influential pioneer South's Korea makeup artist named Chosungah who has shaped Korean makeup trends into what it is today. Having worked with so many top Korean pop stars and celebrities, she still goes by her motto: "Makeup should be  simple and fun" And this spirit has seeped into her makeup line.

Had a lot of fun with my girlies (our Singapore beauty influencers) learning makeup tips through a makeup demo by the Korean makeup artists.

1st Impressions: Etude House Bling Me Prism Collection

I was invited to a bloggers' event at Etude House two months ago. It was really fun and thanks to Etude House Singapore's generosity, I got to play with a lot of their latest products. After using for some weeks, I decided to write about their Bling Me Prism Collection.

This cute limited edition collection is a collaboration between Etude House and Korean accessories brand, High Cheeks. "High Cheeks" suggests the action of smiling, hence you can expect this brand to exude lotsa fun, colour vibes with brightly coloured pop art designs incoporated into their products.

Bling Me Prism Collection reflects such cute, playful & quirky graphics on their packaging. The collection consists of Bling Me Prism Color in Liquid Lips, Bling Me Prism Nails and their new liquid eyeshadow - Bling Me Prism Eyes!

Bling Me Prism Color in Liquid Lips: Thoughts & Swatches

Similiar concept like its predecessor Etude House in Liquid Lips, this range of lippies is also a hybrid of lipstick and lip gloss. The only difference is the texture and the finish. This range has a water-sliding texture that feels lightweight and produces a glowy finish. The best part is the colour doesn't accidentally stick to your front tooth, unlike the previous edition which did so to me. (Horrors!)

Personal thoughts: I really enjoy using these babies. Not just because of the nice texture, but also the vibrant colours simply brighten one's face in a single pop. After a day, colour settles onto the lips with a beautiful, subtle stain that makes your lips look naturally tinted and pouty! Love it!

Bling Me Prism Eyes: Thoughts & Swatches

The Bling me Prism Eyes is a water-based eye colour that is used like an eyeshadow. It has an applicator which makes application easy-peasy, without smudging! The hologram pigment and crystal pearl add a touch of sparkle to the eyes for a bling effect.

Personal thoughts: Product glides on and dries rather quickly, so if you are going to use your fingers to blend it out a little for a softer look, I suggest you do so quickly... OR a better alternative is to utilise a good eyeshadow blending brush. Using fingers can get kinda messy and you may end up having undefined, cloudy eyeshadow on your lids . It takes a bit of practise to get it right, but when you do, the colours are pretty and they really make your eyes stand out.

Simply Her Beauty & Wellness Retreat 2015

Top Beauty Blog

Simply Her launches her first beauty & wellness retreat on 25 April 2015 at Orchard Parade Hotel. Thanks to Her World, two complimentary event passes were sent to me, so I invited my girlfriend to kick back & relax with me on that beautiful (but rainy) Saturday morning & afternoon.

Upon registration, we were given a towel and a bottle of water to prep us for the yoga session. Unfortunately, due to visitation of Aunty Scarlet, I decided to give this one a miss.

My girlfriend and I went ahead with our skin analysis by Thomson Well Woman Clinic, which is able to tell us how young our skin age is, and what are the area of improvements and how to go about resolving skin issues with the aesthetic services they provide.

Doesn't this shot look hilarious? My gf & I burst out in laughters when we saw this pic.

I looked like I am teleporting to another world! It was really fun trying this machine for the first time.

Nervous whilst waiting for my results! My skin looked quite horried due to recent lack of sleep.

The staff handed us a tiny slip of paper which revealed our skin age and areas of concerns such as hydration level, surface spots, hidden spots, acne, wrinkles, etc. My skin age is about 3 years younger than my actual age. According to them, this is good news! (All thanks to my Korean beauty regime, I guess.)

Of course I need a wefie with this pretty & friendly nurse! Love her bright smile!

My gf's turn now. I think she was nervous too!

While we were doing our skin analysis, the rest were in a separate room doing yoga with the two instructors from Pure Yoga, Kristin Khor and Kristin Lewis.

Lunch was a sumptuous buffet spread from the hotel. I personally find the quality of the food mediocre; but my gf overheard a participant commented how delicious the chicken is!

Laneige Singapore Brighten Up Workshop

Laneige Singapore organised two events this month of March 2015. I attended the Brighten Up Workshop and picked up some of the newest, hottest Korean makeup trends for the year. It was fun and educational for me! I even made a few new friends and I love making new friends with common interests!
