MAY '15 Makeup Favourites + Review of Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar

Hi Faithy Lovelies!

Yes, I am referring to YOU... my faithful, lovely readers of Faithy Vanity Table. Thank you so much for being here with me! :)

This blog post spins a new series, Monthly Favourites, in place of the Monthly Faithy Haul posts I had been doing. So it is more like a two-in-one post where I feature selected products I purchased in the month and those I've been loving in that same month. I will still be spontaneously posting my purchases on my social media, so follow me on - Instagram, Facebook, Twitter for future haul updates! (Official hashtag: #faithyhaul) if you're interested in my latest purchases or for those quick reviews/first impressions.

Without further ado, let's get started!

Guerlain Météorites Rainbow Pearls 2015 Limited Edition

Beauty Blog Singapore

This is a must-get edition for Guerlain Météorites collectors! Just look at the pretty pastel-coloured pearls and the stunning white & gold packaging! Sweetness overload!! Especially when paired with the Guerlain face brush meant for the Météorites... the entire package is absolute grade A #makeupporn. LOL. Functional-wise, the brush is nothing to shout out for. It is very mediocre and feels rather rough for its high-end price.

Although swatches of highlighting powder usually do not turn up accurately in pictures, I think there is no harm giving it a try. So please check out my below swatch.

Two layers of Guerlain Météorites Rainbow Pearls

As expected, we can't really see much in this pic. Click images to enlarge - you can see the glitters are quite obvious on my hand. However, the strange thing is, once you swipe on your face, the glitter kinda melt into the face and produces a natural sheen finish, NOT glittery finish. THAT, I like!

This is not a new product, but I am not quite a Tartelette yet, so I thought why not try something from Tarte? Sephora has a 20% sale that day, so that gave me a legit reason for this purchase. Heh.
My girlfriend has been using this for a while and only has raves about it, so I took up her suggestion to purchase this for myself. Truly no regrets. I needed something like MUFE HD Powder in pressed form, for easy touch ups on the go. This is a great dupe for that! High quality clay powder keeps my face shine-free for hours! Skin looks smooth & translucent with this powder on...  coupled with Guerlain Meteorites, my face gets glam-ed up in an instant!

I don't usually pair the two lippies together, since Estee Lauder 280 is already pigmented and brightly coloured by itself. What's more the Sephora lip balm has an obvious pinkish tint.
When use separately, both colours are GORGEOUS! The EL 280 lipstick colour flatters my skin tone and brightens my face (and my mood!), plus the smooth creamy texture... I LOVE IT! Sephora Lip Balm is not hydrating enough, but applying lip balm with an egg-shaped dome like that really gives you a kick! The application glides on so well and with its broad base, I could literally smooch it and muacks, my lip gets smacked with balm all over!

MY THOUGHTS:
The distinctive feature of this eyeshadow palette is the chocolate bar packaging and of course, the famous chocolate smell deriving from the cocoa powder. Comparatively to its predecessor, the famous Too Faced Chocolate Bar, I find this Semi-Sweet palette complements Asian skintones better since it has warmer undertones and more neutral browns. I find myself reaching out for this A LOT ever since I bought it 7 weeks ago on the week of its launch in Singapore... it's like my other numerous eyeshadow palettes never existed. HAHA! Yes, it's that good! I really love the colours and the texture. Not to mention the divine chocolate smell that drives my PMS blues away!

PROS:
  • Awesome quality powder!  Antioxidant-rich cocoa powder furnish users with hydrating benefits for the skin.
  • A good mix of matte & shimmery shades; with a glitter shade Pink Sugar to up the oomph factor on special nights out.
  • With such smooth texture & pigmented colours, this eyeshadow is comparable to luxury high-end brands!
  • 16 shades to choose from - you can create as many looks as your creativity takes you.
  • Comes with a good quality mirror.
  • Colours are very wearable (Great for all occasions.)
  • Inexpensive -wearing this daily won't burn a hole in the pocket!
 CONS:
  • Brushes not included
  • Not much variety of other colours, besides the neutral browns ( plus the one awkward blue)
  • May not suit dark skin tones as they can look dull

Alright, that's it for today's post. I hope you find it useful. Let me know your MAY Favourites too yeah?
