In November 2015, Mary Chia Holdings newly opened their first aesthetics medical centre at Ngee Ann City Tower B, named Scinn Medical Centre.

The brand name Mary Chia was named after its founder and is a home-grown leading beauty and wellness spa brand with over 33 years of experience in the industry. The Mary Chia brand has received numerous awards and accolades under its belt. I am pretty certain there are no women in Singapore & Malaysia who hasn't heard of Mary Chia.

I had the honour to be invited to the opening of Scinn Medical and personally met Ms Mary Chia and her daughter Ms Wendy Ho, who is the current CEO of Mary Chia Holdings. Ms Mary Chia, at her age, looks super amazing and her skin is so youthful & practically glowing from inside. This beauty guru indeed walks the talk. I remembered reading on Her World magazine , the advice that she gave her daughter : 
 
“There are no ugly women in this world, only women who don’t pay enough attention to themselves. I learnt that a woman must set aside time to love herself.” 

I totally concur with that line and had lived by that motto for 33 years! 

So here I was, paying Scinn Medical Centre a visit to pamper myself

Entering a "space capsule"!

Having witnessed how effective their treatments can be on my first visit during the centre's opening, I quickly grabbed the opportunity when Scinn Medical Centre invited me to try one of their beauty treatments. I chose their BBL™ Broadlight treatment for the face.

If aesthetic treatments are new to you, you can look up online regarding the benefits of BBL. Basically, this treatment resets the clock backwards for your skin, rejuvenate it by using the most advanced version Intense Pulse Light (IPL) and the results are immediate after one single session! The results you can expect: Lightening of freckles, sun spots, dark spots, hair removal, increased firmness & radiance, reduced oiliness, clearer pores, reduced acne inflammation, etc. In other words, this is like a MIRACLE TREATMENT everyone needs to have! Hahaha!

The doctor is the best person to recommend the number of sessions (usually 3 - 5 sessions per month, subsequent annual maintenance of 1 or 2 sessions) as it is different for everyone.

After a short consultation with Dr. Loo, I was brought into the BBL room to prep my face for the treatment. The friendly staff helped me remove my makeup and shortly after, Dr. Loo came in to start the treatment for me.

I can't take photos of the procedure as the IPL lights are too strong and will hurt one's eyes. I had an eye shield on as well.

After the mask was taken off, the staff applied Vitamin C cream and moisturiser on my face.

For the first time, I actually like looking into the mirror without foundation on.

MY THOUGHTS

Before BBL: My skin was at its worse that day, with me on Day 2 of my period. New breakouts, post-acne marks, dull & rough texture, freckles, white heads, black heads, etc. Was looking forward to better skin after this treatment, but being a realistic person that I am, I wasn't putting 100% hopes into it since it is only a one-off thing. In fact, I wasn't even that well-informed of what exactly BBL is.

During BBL: The BBL procedure itself took less than 15 minutes. After makeup-removing and application of a cold numbing gel by the staff, the doctor started working his magic. The friendly Scinn medical team really helped to put one at ease. They took care of me really well. Dr Loo was very thorough with my face and he made sure all parts of the face were treated by the pulsing lights. He even suggested me to allow him to remove the hair on my upper lips - he only need to increase the voltage. He also warned me of the areas where pain might be felt; always keeping me ready of what was to come next. Actually, it wasn't too painful... there was a bit of a feeling like my face got lightly slapped by rubber bands. But really, it wasn't that bad and the pain is indeed bearable.

After BBL: This is the part that got me most excited. As I mentioned, initially I wasn't being too hopeful how one single session can make any difference to my already-rotten face. LOL. BUT I WAS TOTALLY WRONG! When the doctor showed me the mirror (with my cooling gel still on and looking funny), I received a huge surprise! I swore my face looked smaller by at least 0.5 cm, and my skin tone were so two tones fairer and many of my bumps were gone! I couldn't be any happier. There weren't much redness as well. ZERO DOWNTIME. YAYYYY! The cooling white mask took us another 15 minutes. It was very relaxing and faintly smelled of white musk or some floral scent. The entire treatment from doctor consultation to the end only took 40 minutes.

Days after BBL, my face still looks as firm as day one of treatment. The radiance is still there as well! My T-zone is less oily even when I am still on my period! No new comedones were being formed. One special thing I noticed was: some of my pigmentation became darker on the second day, but subsequently they gradually flaked off and disappear. Freckles have lightened too!

FINAL VERDICT: I can only say that this BBL™ Broadlight brought forth very satisfactory results to my face and I LOVE IT!
