Announcement

Happy 2021!

In a post-pandemic world, what has changed for you?

Many things have changed for me : some major, some small, and most, emotional.

I wish I can chat with you face to face. I wish I can personally say thank you to all of you who have supported Faithy Vanity Table in any way, all through these 6 years.

This February, Faithy Vanity Table celebrates its 6th blog anniversary

It's been a wild ride! I'd always beat myself up for not blogging more. I want to create more writings because writing is my first love, but my time/resources are limited and my attention span on the blog tapered off, shifting my focus more on building a presence on Instagram as the years glided past...

I think most of you know at the same time, I was  in teaching, juggling between multiple small businesses and passion projects, volunteering at mental health sites (online & local), and FVT has always been just a side hustle - one that takes up a significant part of my time.

But this year 2021, THINGS WILL CHANGE.

Faithy Vanity Table will be revamped. Not just a website design change.

FVT WILL GET BIGGER AND BETTER.

Faithy Vanity Table pivots to another site that welcomes more
likeminded individuals!

If you have heard of BuyMeACoffee.com, you already know the idea behind the site is for creators to share their passion and creations, and the site is an extremely user-friendly one where communities engage and creators are able to receive appreciation for their efforts via their fans' monetary support. In other words, you can donate to your favourite creators over at buymeacoffee.com to support their work.

No, I am not advertising for their website. I am a real happy user because the platform is going to benefit both you and I! And I invite you to see what I am up to over there.

Your time is precious, so I want to give you a brief heads up of what to expect when you follow me over to the other side.

✔ You get invited to join an exclusive V.I.P. Membership Club that I created for you and for my supporters. You and I are gonna be tight over there. 👊

✔ You will see fresh new content that you have NEVER seen me doing before.

✔ You will receive LOADS OF FREEBIES (far exceeding the value of your membership fees) when you decide to join my VIP Club!

✔ You have an opportunity to contribute to my craft and help me sustain Faithy Vanity Table.

✔ You will get to meet and speak to the real me, either LIVE on screen or in person!

ONCE YOU JOIN MY #FVTribe V.I.P Membership Club ($50/year), you immediately receive:

💢 Downloadable ebook "DIY Skincare: Your Stay Home Guide to Healthy, Glowing Skin" (U.P : US$18)
💢 Instant access to all locked membership-only articles & reports (worth more than $500/year)
💢 LIVE 1-1 coaching session with me with a topic of your choice, on Zoom. (worth $70)
💢FREE GIFT of health/beauty products worth $50, couriered to your doorstep (on your birthday month)

I promise you, #NOFILTER over there. It is a SAFELOCKED SPACE (opened to my supporters only) where I share my most honest thoughts about everything like how a friend does. Topics include but not limited to beauty & health, wellness & mental health, love & relationships, unspoken truths about social media community, SG media industry, airline industry; we can even chat about politics, philosophy, religion if you'll let me! 😂 But okay, mainly Beauty, Health & Wellness related topics.

💝What's more, by supporting me, you are also supporting Samaritans of Singapore ! 10% of all sales proceeds will be donated to SOS! This is a way of demonstrating my devotion to the cause of raising mental health awareness in Singapore. I also signed up to be an ad-hoc volunteer there, sign up if you are keen here!

Ready for summer holiday with Gaston Luga Backpack

Sponsored

Gaston Luga Backpack review Singapore

Being a serial wanderluster, a functional yet stylish backpack is a godsend. However, practicality and style hardly goes together...at least not for backpacks. Right? That's what most people would think.

Not after I met Gaston Luga.

Gaston Luga is a Swedish label which showcases an array of Scandinavian minimalist backpacks made for the trendy traveller who doesn't wish to lose that touch of elegance.

Gaston Luga is not the actual name of the designer - Carl Sundqvist is. The story behind the very first Gaston Luga backpack is really interesting - you'd never expect it was remade from a Louis Vuitton! Read more HERE.

Quick Personal Updates - More Travel, Beauty, Lifestyle posts upcoming in 2017!

Hello from New York, Times Square!

It's the third week of 2017, and I realised I haven't greet you lovelies properly. Happy New Year, Everyone! May the new year bring forth more abundance and goodness to you who's reading this!

Just some quick updates of what's going on with me and with Faithy Vanity Table for this upcoming first quarter of the year....

New Year Trip to New York City

As you probably already knew (if you're on my Instagram/Facebook), I kick-started 2017 with a trip to New York City. Experienced the first snow storm of my life and man...it was freezing my pants off but the scenery was really beautiful!

Also made a day trip to Brooklyn to take some pretty shots. More photos and New York travel information & tips will be posted on the blog soon-ish! (After I take care of some blog backlogs.)

Holiday Haul from New York

These are my fashion & beauty haul from the trip. I didn't pick up a lot of beauty products simply because Singapore has them at cheaper or equivalent prices. Our Singapore currency is weaker than the U.S., so the same stuff in Sephora Singapore are likely to be cheaper than in US.

From the above pic, you can gather than I chose mostly stuff that has yet to launched in Singapore Sephora. I will be selecting some to review before they are available for sale in Singapore - hope this helps you with your purchasing decisions! Let me know your product requests. ;)

I definitely will be doing more detailed reviews on Too Faced Sweet Peach Collection and Guerlain Happy Glow Spring 2017 since they are confirmed to be launched in Singapore. In fact, Guerlain has already launched and my review will be up on the next blog post!

Confessions of a Blogger (1): Bitchiest, Funniest, Jaw-dropping Remarks Overheard at Media Events

Hi lovelies!

Thanks to my insomnia (again), I finished re-reading all of my previous blog posts and realised that I have been too focused on beauty product reviews recently and kinda lost some personal touch on this blog?

As you probably already knew, I started this blog due to passion in all things beautiful. And it will pain me (not to mention, cause me further insomnia) should I one day lose my initial fervour. Keeping things real yet diplomatic (and sometimes entertaining. Haha.) will be my lifelong pursuit…both in life and on this blog. Heh.

#I_Sompa #ISwearOnMyTOMFORDLipstick

However, today I want to write about something more light-hearted (and slightly juicy). Having been in the bloggersphere/social media industry for slightly less than two years, I am very thankful to be blessed with many socialising opportunities at media events such as new product launches, blogger parties, fashion shows, makeup/makeover events, etc. Rubbing shoulders with celebrities, popular media & online personalities, CEOs/founders of huge beauty companies – all of this wasn’t part of the reason why I started the blog, but I guessed I lucked out to be regularly experiencing these via blogging. (In my past work industries, the professional profiles I met are mostly academics, politicians, lawyers, aviators and business owners. Well, let’s save those old-school stories for another time.)

Being part of the social media scene has definitely opened my eyes wider. There are just so many interesting sights & sounds to share with you guys…which I did of course - on Snapchat and Instagram Stories. BUT…what you haven’t heard are some of the most hilarious jokes, rudest remarks, super entertaining banter overheard at events. Many of those were generously targeted at me during conversations. Some were unfortunately thrown at other people.

I hope they didn’t take it too hard, like how I did...NOT.
(LOL. Actually I just didn’t know how to feel and what to make of it. *shrugs)

London Fun Things To Do (Special Exclusive: Best Spots for your #OOTD shots!)

London Fun Things To Do

London is a piece of what heaven seems like. It's got everything for everyone - from arts & culture to food & shopping, world history to amazing scenery... There is no reason not to pay the glorious city a visit (except for the strong sterling pound)!

Sharing with you guys some of the must-visit places and some tips while travelling in London. Of course, since my country offers no opportunities for me to showcase winter OOTD, I'm gonna do so here as well! And you can reference the best locations we used for my OOTD photos.

MY TRAVEL NOTES

I am not the type who follows any sort of routine or itineraries, so I did not plan a proper tour itinerary for this London trip. Below are some not-really-organised travel notes which I actually referred to while in London for 8 days. If you find it useful for you, click to enlarge & save images. Alternatively, if you prefer a printable copy, you can download HERE.

Out of the 8 days in London, we used 2 days for road trips to Bath, Stonehenge, Winsor Castle, Stratford Upon Avon, Cotswold, Warwick Castle. I used Evans Evans Tours. You can find out more about the tours HERE. I highly recommend them if you are not driving or you prefer to have experienced guides to bring you around; or if you're like us, who simply prefer fuss-free organised tours to bring us around so we can rest and relax our minds/doze off on coaches! These London tour companies are really organised and their tour guides are super punctual & efficient with very clear & precise verbal instructions. Listening to Londoners speak Queen's English is a bliss! (Trust me, when you return to Singapore, you will feel slightly embarassed at our Singlish. No offence, haha!)

Shakespeare Birth Place, Stratford Upon Avon. For the literature buffs, as well as for Mr & Mrs LKY supporters.

As for bus tours, the two major operators are The Big Bus Tour and The Original Bus Tour. We opted for the latter. There are positives and negatives of our experience, so I can't exactly recommend them to you. You might be better off taking the tube (London Underground) or travel by foot. Choose a centralised location for your stay in London, it helps! We had our first AirBnB experience and stayed 7 minutes walk away from Oxford Circus tube station. THAT really saved us quite a bit on transport, bearing in mind for a week, we each spent SGD80 on tube alone (and we stayed in the heart of central London)!

Being on the top deck of a tour bus in deep winter is quite the exhilarating experience! You get an overview of the city in a couple of hours, but that's probably the only perks of signing up a bus tour.

As you know, I have just arrived home from my long summer holiday. I was blessed to be able to visit quite a few cool cities over a month's time - Santorini, Athens, Mykonos, Seoul, San Francisco, Munich and Salzburg.

I hope to have time to do a travelogue series and pen down my travel journey at these fabulous cities, one by one. For now, I'd like to first show you my travel lookbook + a glimpse of the places I covered this month alone, before I end my post by sharing with you some tips on looking good while overseas.

Sorry this announcement came a bit late... In case you aren't on social media or not following me on my Instagram/Facebook/Twitter (Why aren't you?), I am dropping by to inform you that I am NOT MIA.

Singapore Blog Awards 2015 Best Beauty Blog Finalist

I need a place to rant, and since I wholly own this blog, I think I can do so here right?
Please kindly bear with me a little...

If you are residing in Singapore, you should have heard of the Singapore Blog Awards (SBA) organised by OMY.sg. Needless to elaborate, it is a yearly awards ceremony, recognising the talents & efforts of our local bloggers.

This year, I participated in a few categories in SBA 2015. The very category that befits my blog the most (and one that is most important to me personally) is the BEST BEAUTY BLOG category, presented/sponsored by Panasonic Singapore.

Eight days ago, I received a very delightful email congratulating me on being selected to be a Finalist in the SBA 2015 Best Beauty Blog category (Advertisers' Choice)! [Blog: http://faithyvanitytable.blogspot.com]

Upon reading the first line of the above email, I was OVERJOYED and literally did a binky jump on the streets! (Read: a binky jump is a special hopping-in-mid-air action by a very happy bunny) The next moment as I read on was a total game-changer to my moods.

I am supposed to attend a workshop organised by Panasonic and write blog posts about the event and a sponsored product, BEFORE I can be listed officially as one of the Top Ten Finalists, due to announce on 9 June 2015 (which is today, the day of me penning this blog post).

Before I register my blog at SBA 2015, I read the T & C, and KNEW that it is compulsory attend the Panasonic event BUT the event date wasn't confirmed at the point of my registration. At about the same time, my sweet husband paid a deposit for a SGD10K tour to Greece as our early wedding anniversary celebratory trip for 10th-20th June... the trip was only confirmed a day after my blog's registration for SBA 2015.

When I register, I wasn't expecting to be able to get onto TOP 10 Finalists of Best Beauty Blog Award category. Who would? (If I had knew earlier...I definitely will shelf my husband's travel plans.)

Anyway, fast forward to what transpired... The Panasonic event is going to be held on 13th June, which clashes with my Greece trip! I tried to appeal to the organiser, OMY.sg, to allow me to lock my name down as one of the ten finalists, but...

I was denied, as expected.

Best Beauty Blog Finalist OMY SBA
SAY GOODBYE TO PLACING THIS BADGE (2015 version) ON MY BLOG THIS YEAR...

Yes, it is part of the regulations that finalists are obliged to attend the mandatory event and write about it. And apparently, they aren't flexible about this.

There is nothing I can do, but still, I am honoured and feel appreciated that my blog, my baby, was (initially) recognised as one of the TOP TEN Best Beauty Blogs of Singapore!

I obviously won't have the opportunity to thank anyone at the awards ceremony, so here goes...

I want to....

THANK YOU my readers for your support,
THANK YOU Panasonic Singapore for selecting my blog,
THANK YOU OMY.SG for organising this awesome event for us bloggers,
THANK YOU JESUS for making my blogging journey a happy & satisfying one so far.

I am truly grateful to whatever I have right now, and I hope I will continue to be inspired to produce more quality blog posts in future. Please continue to support & encourage me okay? :)

UPDATE ( 5 Hours After This Post First Published):
I saw the names of my "competitors" and I suddenly felt much much better about not being able to participate this year... Their blogs are really fantastic, and in my opinion, better than mine! They deserve the award!

Please support my beauty blogger friends at:

( I am rooting for 7 of them that I either know personally, or I really like the blog...sorry a bit sensitive to divulge who here; but trust me, ALL 10 of them deserve this recognition!)

And you can vote for your favourite Top 10 Popular Blog Awards (Overall) here:
